Camera Operator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced camera operator to join our production team, based in Canada.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for capturing high-quality video footage for various television and OTT programs, ensuring that all shots are framed correctly and delivered according to the director's vision.

Education Requirement: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate professional video cameras to capture high-quality footage for television programs, live broadcasts, and other productions.
  • Collaborate with producers, program team, and other stakeholders to understand the creative vision and requirements for each project.
  • Provide creative ideas for arranging sets and backgrounds, as well as suggesting color schemes to enhance the mood of the program.
  • Set up and adjust camera equipment, including lenses, filters, and lighting, to achieve the desired output.
  • Follow the program draft and other instructions and cues to capture key moments and scenes effectively.
  • Work together with the post-production team, especially the color department, to understand what technical needs are necessary.
  • In charge of managing assets, which includes organizing files and transferring them to the post-production department.
  • May need to work, at times, outside of standard business hours.
  • Required to travel to various locations in Canada.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in camera technology to continuously improve skills and techniques.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a camera operator in a television production environment.
  • Proficiency in operating professional video cameras, including knowledge of camera settings, lenses, and accessories.
  • Strong understanding of composition, framing, and lighting techniques to achieve visually compelling shots.
  • English communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with producers, resources, and other crew members.
  • Knowledge of audio recording equipment and techniques is a plus.
